The Club was founded on April 2005 in Tessaloniki. Its primary purpose is to give the opprtunity to young athletes who are students in the universities of Thessaloniki, to practice basketball properly and in a competitive environment. Members, athletes and team management are all or have been students of the universities of Tessaloniki.

“FILOKTITIS” is the first basketball team in Greece, which is founded by students for the students, and bears this element in its name and logos. Its members and management have set their efforts to organizing the club on a profesional basis and creating the proper ground for success.
At the moment “FILOKTITIS” has 22 registered members and is managed by a board of 5. The basketball department has 18 registered athletes in the men’s team.

STUDENT-ATHLETES’ CLUB “FILOKTITIS” is legally approved as a club by the court of Thessaloniki and is admitted as a basketball team by the Union of Basketball Teams of Thessaloniki and Greek Basketball Association.

The Championship
As a newly founded bascetball club, “FILOKTITIS” has to start its course from the C’ regional championship of Thessaloniki. The 48 teams of the championship are seperated in 6 groups of 8. The first 4 teams of every group will pass to the next round, where they will be seperated in three groups of 8. First two teams of every one of these three groups will be promoted to B’ regional category. The championship lasts from October to late May and is covered by the local sports newspapers.
