Prague Castle
Charles Bridge will take us into the historical atmosphere of the Lesser Quarter, from where we take a short, picturesque tram ride to Prague Castle, the symbol of Czech culture and history. This centuries-old structure has a life of its own, as it has withheld its grandeur throughout a turbulent history. It has shared the fortunes of the Czech country, as a seat of the Czech kings, and now as the residence of the Presidents. During the whole of it's existence, Prague castle has seen the rise and the fall of generations. We will visit this 'small town inside Prague' with its St. Vitus Cathedral, Old Royal Palace, St. Georges'Basilica, the Royal Garden and many other great sights.
From the beginning of Czech history, people’s attention turned to the elongated hill above the Vltava River whose shape was compared by chronicler Kosmas to 'the back of a dolphin or sea pig'. On this hill there grew over the cenuriest, the unique group of buildings of Prague Castle whose significance was heightened because they constituted not only the secular but also the religious centre of the country.
