Cuisine
Our guests appreciate the historical atmosphere, the quality of our cuisine and the high standard of our services. Even at these days, we can not buy at Czech Republic for example the three kilogram sirloin or the veil of a special size we need. So we have to import this food together with sea food and fishes. The best French wines go together with the best meals. We also began to offer great Czech wines. Just come and taste it !
The food makes 30 % of the total price, the rest covers our high quality services. The preparation of one meal takes from two and a half to three hours and several people must fix it.
The cookers are led by chef who learned his art of cooking at France for 12 years. He is not that type who knows 500 different recipes and prepares the same meals over and over again. He has a big talent for fixing of delicates and for the improvisation.
You cannot find thin kind of meals on an ordinary menu. With chef like that, you can easily win a cookery contest in France. But if we would offer to our guests for example the lobster ravioli with the chocolate sauce, we are not sure if they would believe what a delicious surprise waits for them. So we are more conservative in our menu.
We are also very pleased to see that more and more Czechs come to our U MalÃřů restaurant
History
In 15th century, the house was built along the wall in front of the Maltez's church and the monastery which rules and books accepted.
In the year 1543, J. Å ic, the artist, bought the house for 40 piles of cents from Jiřà Kuřátka. Since this year, they began to call this place "U MalÃřů".
In the year 1604, Jan Litoměřický from Jizbice bought the house and 3 years later his orphans sold it to Benedikt Galthan who rebuided the place. At the end of 17th century, the house was adaptated once again and was called "U bÃlého kohouta".
The house gained its present look, with the help of B. Mázel, during the years 1936-37. In this period R. Adámek and R. Jindřich painted the eautiful frescoes there.
Best Restaurant in Prague
Critics walk all around Prague. They enter the best restaurants, order the most delicious meals and drinks and they make their secret notes - giving marks, as at the school, 1 ("the most delicious") - 5 ("unbearable").
They mark the atmosphere, meals and services and then the computer makes up a list of the top hundred restaurants in Prague that are then published in the Gourmet book.
The best restaurant wins the prize, the huge fork from ANY agency, and it can be as proud as it would gain the stars from the French michelin. Restaurant U MalÃřů won this prize in the year 1999.
