Watersprings in Karlovy Vary
The fame of Karlovy Vary has spread into the whole world thanks to its mineral springs. Twelve of about one hundred mineral springs are used in the drinking cure. Their basic compositions are similar but they differ in temperature and the amount of carbon dioxide, and that is why their effects are different as well. The colder springs usually have a slightly purgative effect while the warmer ones make the production of bile and stomach juices slower. The temperature of the mineral springs is related to the average temperature of the season (+- 3oC).

St. Peter and Paul's Orthodox Church
The five-dome edifice was built with financial help of Russian aristocracy
according to the design of Byzantine-Russian church in Ostankino near Moscow.
The relief by sculptor M. Hiller represents Russian Tsar Peter I during
construction of The Peacock House in 1711.
The Orthodox Church of St. Peter and Paul is the jewel of this part of Karlovy Vary. It was built in the typical Byzantine style. The church was completed in 1897. The church is a true copy of classical Byzantine buildings. The construction project was made by the architect Gustav Wiedermann from Franzensbad and it was based on building plans of the Russian academic Uchtomsk-. The interior of the church is decorated with paintings and icons, gifts of wealthy Russian guests from the close of the 19th century.
