About Vysocany
Vysocany served as a manufacturing site for locomotive producer CKD, the Praga car factory, a Kolben factory
and Avia Aero, among others. It reached its peak during World War II and continued into the 1950s. A recent
restructuring of the city’s industrial zones has driven a number of factories out of business.
The Prague 9 Town Hall initiated a revitalization of the area about four years ago, after many of the enterprises
either transformed or failed and the properties’ complicated ownership structure had been cleared up.
